The Long View
On a clear day you can see Mt Shasta directly in front of you as you drive north straight up Interstate 5 from about Willows or Corning (as shown here). In this photo it's about a hundred miles away (and its size is exaggerated by the long lens used). On a really clear day you start seeing it when it's about 140 miles ahead of you, but it's easy to mistake it for a cloud on the horizon. Photo taken December 2006.
