Roy's, Amboy
The inevitable photo of Roy's cafe, gas station, and motel at Amboy, California (2005). A typical example of California Googie architecture, it's led a precarious existence for the last few decades. See my featured image article The Other Side of Amboy for my take on the place.
Note that as of March 2022, Roy's seemed to be a working gas station and place to get snacks again (yay!). There's also a working airstrip out the back (in not bad condition the last time I looked at it from ground level) for anyone thinking of flying a light GA plane in for a visit (no, I haven't tried it).
